The fight against mass surveillance starts local.
#PurgePalantir From Politics
Billionaires are buying our elections and our government. Our tax dollars are being spent to build out a surveillance state against us. And those we’ve elected to represent us are part of the feedback loop of money and power.
We need to remind Congress members that they work for the American people.
We demand that our members of Congress:
- Take the pledde to #PurgePalantir: publicly reject Palantir contracts and cut all ties with the company.
- Reject all donations from Palantir executives and billionaire-backed special interest groups.
- Take concrete steps to end Palantir’s role in federal immigrantion enforcement and surveillance.
- Stand with immigrant communities: reject the systems, corporations, and political interests that profit from their surveillance, detention, and fear.
WHAT YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW
What do Flock Safety and Palantir have in common?
Palantir co-founder Peter Thiel was one of the earliest investors in Flock Safety through his venture capital fund, Founders Fund. They are both part of the billionaire’s infrastructure for surveillance and authoritarianism.
What is Flock?
Flock Safety is a police technology company with contracts across the U.S. for surveillance cameras, automatic license plate readers and an AI powered search engine for a centralized nationwide mass surveillance network. Flock’s default agreement with police departments grants the company the right to share data with federal and local agencies— including ICE— who is using it to track and disappear folks.
The company says it only records license plates, but in fact the cameras record things like:
- Vehicle make/model/year
- Registar tags/owners
- Identifiers (bumper stickers, broken taillights)…
And anyone with access to the system can track you.
Flock collects detailed vehicle tracking data, and Palantir provides the tech backbone to drive strategic actions of law enforcement agencies.
